Keeping Warm

The BBC weatherman told us this was going to be an afternoon "When you'd be warmer climbing into your fridge".

We got our old folks' cold weather payment this morning. That's something they only hand over if the temperature has dipped below freezing for seven days at a stretch. We're very grateful. Even though we've got the thermostat set low the boiler has been running continuously. I'd rather not think what it must be costing.

One qualifies for cold weather payments on turning 60. Ailz- who is younger than me- qualifies as a disabled person. Sadly we only get the one payment between us and not one each.

I'd forgotten about that - must check my bank balance! Not sure if I'll qualify - the wind chill has been down to -3, but I'm not sure where they measure it -

And, yes, it's extra to the Winter Fuel Payment, which isn't temperature dependent and should be paid before the end of December

Knowing what my electricity bill is in the summer because of the air conditioning, I'm glad get at least some assisstance with the heating costs.
