I am so sorry.

A death at home, peacefully, surrounded by devoted family, is what I would most wish for. You're very admirable for providing so much support in such difficult circumstances.

Thanks.

Strewth, but I feel tired.

That is sad, especially for Ailz and her mother. I'm so sorry.
He didn't linger...
May he rest in peace.

Thanks.

I am sorry for your loss. From the way things were going, it seems that this is what he wanted--a quick passing at home.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

Yes, he had the ending he wanted.

[identity profile] veronica-milvus.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Condolences to you all. I know how hard you worked for his good life and his good death. How strange that he seemed to die with no real cause. I wish you all peace.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

He was worn out. By the end nothing was working properly. And then he just stopped.

My condolences to you and especially to Ailz. A death is always sad, but it sounds as though Eric just quietly gave up and was ready to slip away.

I hope Ailz managed to get the final EMA done for the children's lit course. I can't have been easy when there was so much stress over Eric's final illness.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

Ailz had to stop the course. It was too much for her with everything else that was going on. At least she was spared having to write an essay about PatrickbloodyNess.

Kindest thoughts to all of you. It sounds as though it was quick and peaceful.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

The end was peaceful. He'd been getting weaker and weaker and then he just quit.

[identity profile] dadi.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Kind thoughts to Ailz and you and your MIL. He has suffered a lot, and you all have done so much to make him feel loved and comfortable.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

I wasn't in favour of having him home, but it turned out to be the right decision in the end.

Transition at home with one's family is the best way to go, and you all made that happen for Eric.
My condolences to all.
*hug*

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

Yes, he had the death he wanted.

He was ready - it just took him a little while to truly know it. I'm glad he was able to be at home. My condolences.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

He'd been ready for months. As you say it took him a while to know it.

[identity profile] cluegirl.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
From what you've said of his last few weeks, it seems he'd be relieved to go. I'm sorry for your family's loss, but glad it was a relatively brief decline.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

Yes, he had no quality of life towards the end.

[identity profile] faunhaert.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
wow that was fast

some times being home
is just the right prescription
to help some one let go.

may you know the best things to say
in this time when needed,
not after they walk away.

even when its expected
its never a good time
to let someone go,

Eric will be missed.
but his love will never die
hugs you all

I missed this first around.

Let me extend my sympathy for the loss.

You all did the best you could do for him, and I guess a death at home, surrounded by those who care about you, is not a bad end.
