Two Things I like And One I don't
Oct. 3rd, 2011 12:33 pmWe went to our great niece's second birthday party. There were Babies! Well, there was a single baby- our great nephew. I like babies.
Ruth was there. She's just back from France and had a box of Normandy cider for us. I like Normandy cider.
I watched bits of the New Star Trek movie. Kirk was bonking a girl with green skin, then slipped under her bed to ogle her house-mate's gams. Original Trek was sexist, but never as coarsely sexist as this. Shatner's Kirk was fizzing with testosterone but also gallant and chivalrous. I don't like the Star Trek reboot.

Date: 2011-10-04 10:08 am (UTC)The officer corp itself is a kind of fraternity. I think any realistic portrayal of how young men behave is going to look a bit like watching overgrown boys doing the usual boy stuff. Put them in uniform, regiment their lives, sequester them away from the general population and this behavior will only intensify. Personally, I rather miss the fraternal aspect.
