Did the shooter really think we'd go, "If it hadn't been for that white guy killing all those people I'd never have realised what a menace these Muslims are; lets drive them into the sea."?

You dress in a self-designed uniform, complete with self-awarded medals, then you murder over seventy young people: what a wonderful advertisement you are for your cause!

At the funeral of Bano Rashid a minister and an imam walked side by side ahead of the coffin- which is exactly the kind of thing her sheep-faced killer wanted to prevent.

I keep thinking...if that prick Breivik was a "warrior" why not get out to Talibanland and start some serious action? Why didn't he hit a Masjid? The thought of hundreds of young Muslim guys retaliating as he reloaded de trop? You are correct in that this shit bring us together - the Umma and Hindus united.

I think if one can grasp any silver lining as a consequence of this awful mass murder, it might be that quite a lot of people are realising that brown people turn out to be just people, and mass murderers turn out to be non-denominational.

The guy apparently spent a lot of time inside the echo chamber of our right-wing hate machine. Here's a look at one of his sources of inspiration, one of our more blood-thirsty and unhinged Zionist loons:

And since Fox is a Murdoch property, we get a nice tie-in.

Did the shooter expect us to suddenly recognize the Muslim menace? or did he want us to see how easy it was to take matters into our own hands and seek a violent solution? My money is on the latter. When Timothy McVeigh blew up the Morrow Federal building, in Oklahoma City, he was convinced that his act of 'courage' would inspire a mass uprising against the tyranny of the US government.

Anders Behring Breivik is of the same mold, I suspect. He was certainly nurtured on the same infernal teat.

We've been saying the same thing about Muslim extremists for decades, i.e. "Did these murderers seriously think that we'd all rush to embrace wahabi Islam once they started blowing themselves up and using airliners as weapons?"

Like you noted above, evil is both banal and stupid. Unfortunately, it's also not limited to a specific belief system or culture.

I hope they broke his solitary confinement just to show him the coverage of Bano Rashid's funeral for precisely that reason.

What's interesting is how much of his language is squarely within the mainstream of American neoconservative thought. He has much more in common with the likes of David Horowitz and Robert Spencer than someone like David Duke.
