I keep having to remind myself  today isn't Saturday- only pretending to be.

For a couple of years after they  gated the alleyway at the back of the house nobody used it. Now- with all this lovely spring weather- there are gangs of very small children running up and down it all day long. They are loud, but their mothers are louder.  I met a gang of them today. "Who are you?" one of them asked.  I told him and asked back. They ran through a string of names, then repeated it- only this time assigning them differently- so that Wainwright was now Jack and Jack was  Peter and Peter was Wainwright,

Talking about kids, did you notice the very small and very grumpy bridesmaid on the balcony of Buckingham Palace who covered her ears when the WWII aeroplanes flew over ?

Couldn't take my eyes off her. She's Louise, daughter of the Wessex one - Edward, is it? Anyway, she's the one who was born premature; she's got some kind of congenital eye problem, and they said in the service that it was a really big deal for Edward that she was there... but it's not a big deal, is it, because she's core royal family... anyway, so the whole thing left me wondering if she's developmentally delayed somehow.

Lots of people have congenital eye problems and/or are born prematurely without being developmentally delayed - seems more likely that it was all very military and Edward opted out of ail that

Deleted my comment below because it was in the wrong place. You're right, he's very low key and non-military. I was intrigued to see the girl because she has been absent from the public eye since she was born, but that would fit in with their style.

I was intrigued to see HRH The Earl in a military uniform at the wedding. Didn't he drop out of the Royal Marines during basic training?

Yes, I'm sure he did. But maybe he then did some less demanding military thing? Or he gets an honorary uniform?

He's the Royal Honorary Colonel of The London Regiment - and Princess Anne is also a Colonel - , but you don't often see either of them in uniform

Yes - didn't they refuse the Princess title for both of their children - as did Princess Anne?

I thought her reaction to what was going on around her was entirely proper.

Bloody noisy planes!

I was really disappointed. I thought there would be hundreds of planes, doing loop the loops for hours. But it was all over in about five seconds.

I don't suppose there are many planes of that vintage still in working order.

Also it was a flypast, not a flying demonstration - and there have been a few nasty accidents to spectators during recent flying demonstrations - i doubt if they'd do a demonstration over such a huge crowd
Do you know where they had flown from? I missed it completely
