Clegg won by a hair. He's still giving the most plausible imitation of a real human being. Brown had upped his game; he'd cut out the pre-scripted quips and the undignified fawning on "Nick". He also seemed to have more energy than before. Cameron leaves me cold. I look at him and all I can see are the forces massed behind him- the bankers, the bosses, the super-rich, Murdoch and the Murdoch press, the Daily Mail.  I hate his mantra about favouring people "who do the right thing", which sounds to me very much like, "toe the line or else." Mind you, Clegg's mantra about his lot being "different from the two old parties" is scarcely less irritating. It reminds me of the noises Tony Blair was making in 1997. You're a politician, Nick- and we don't actually expect all that much of you. You're doing fine at present on the strength of seeming slightly fresher than the others, so don't overstate your case; it'll only end in tears.

Adam Boulton looks like a debauched Roman emperor.

I loathe politics. It is a necessary evil I wish we could do without. Having said that, however, I did watch the first debate in iplayer on Wed, and anything GB said was peppered with "I agree with Nick" or he was tearing down Cameron, rather than giving answers. He never once admitted they could have done more in any area, and only appeared to keep repeating the same comments several times. Cameron simply dodged all the questions, never really committing to anything, and spent the rest of the time fending off the other two. NC came over as a wow by comparison, even explaining in quite a bit of detail the hows and whys of the Libdem plans, explaining how they would find the money for things. He just sounded more organised and prepared than the others. But yes, he can stop banging on about 'being different'. We get it! *g*

Exactly, the difference is apparent- he doesn't help his case by banging on about it.

I thought he was less impressive last night, but maybe that had something to do with the battering he's been getting in the Tory press.

Haven't seen that episode yet. Will get to it in the next day or so, all being well.
