Still Adjusting

The work that was done earlier this week has raised the backyard about four inches (allowing Ailz to run her mobility scooter from the house to the lane without jolting) but my body still expects there to be a step. I've been going in and out with armfuls of clothing to hang on the line and every time I've passed the threshold I've been taken by surprise when, instead of going down a level, my foot has slid raspingly across an unbroken surface.
