Thank you all for your birthday greetings. They cheered up what would otherwise have been rather a gloomy day. First we had to take my father-in-law to the doctors, then Odi came round and flopped all over the furniture with morning- or in her case afternoon- sickness- and finally my father-in-law was taken into hospital- where he remains.

This morning I went to the doctor's on my own account to have my yearly cholestrol check. The good news is I've lost two kilos.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I hope he will be OK. Great about your own weight-loss, though.

My father-in-law has been a "creaking gate" for years now. Going into hospital seems to buck him up no end. It worked wonders last time- just the change of scenery- and there's a good chance he'll be coming back home today.
