On the one hand the step lift is dead again.  It lasted for a day after its last mend. The engineer is here now. He thinks there's an electrical fault.

On the other hand the Council has waved the parking fine we were slapped with after a parking attendant gave us the go-ahead to park on double yellow lines.

Good! (that the fine has been waived). You obviously appealed?

Maybe you'll get at the root of your funky electricals now!

We did. And the appeal was accepted without any fuss.

The engineer is talking about replacing a whole lot of switches.

The sensible thing would be to put in a new lift. (This one is ten years old and out of date) but I suppose the Council doesn't want to spend the money.

Sorry to hear about the stairlift, but can I have your autograph? After all, people who get councils to tear up parking tickets are rare and famous in my book! *bows reverently* LOL

A triumph on the parking front! When are you standing for Parliament, O righter of great wrongs?

Sorry to hear about the lift. I know that once a person is qualified for one it is a true necessity, and so I hope that they will be able to fix it properly - and soon.
Good news about the parking -- when people get cited here, if they show up on hearing day to appeal they usually win.

This was a clear-cut case I think. We were displaying a disabled parking permit. We were within our rights- and the attendant was just trying it on.

Oh God no! Don't send me to that place. I'd go mad.

If people go to the trouble of appealing its usually because they've got a good case. Otherwise it's less hassle to pay the fine.

I think talk of "replacing a whole lot of switches" sounds promising, actually. There must be a reason for your other electrical difficulties. Maybe a solution will present itself in the course of fixing the lift.
