It was built in 1909. It's a middle-status, terraced house of that period- the sort of place that might have been owned by someone in middle-management. The first owner- so far as we can make out- was a widow woman who took in lodgers.
The area has gone up and down the social scale since then. It was pretty rough when I first moved in, but is now recovering. There are a lot of upwardly mobile Asian families on the street.
Very nice. There are a few houses similar to this on the edges of downtown Minneapolis. They too have been experiencing ups and downs. Right now it's mostly ups.
This kind of house became unfashionable in the mid-20th century- and whole districts were demolished. Now they're appreciated more and the first impulse is to renovate.
Thank you so very much! It is delightful! I love the windows. The place reminds me of Boston's Back Bay and Beacon Hill and other "intown" neighborhoods where many of the buildings have the same elegance, albeit a bit older(probably mid 19th Century).

Unfortunately the big windows face north- so there's not a lot of light through the day.

I love the windows. Is that leaded stained glass?

Yes, that's real, leaded stained glass.

The location's pretty good. Less than a mile from the town centre and less than five minutes walk from extensive parkland.
