Yesterday I made an apple pie and did a bit of what passes for gardening in my world- meaning I cut back some creeper, swept the path and  threw out the tomato plants my pa-in-law gave me- which had withered away without producing a single, viable fruit.

In the evening our copy of The Advertiser came though the door. It contains the article- held over from last week- about Alice's book. The headline is "The debt I owe my white witch father". You can read it here

Congratulations to Alice - it looks like a really great book.

Did the journalist who was looking for quotes from you ever track you down? I guess it wouldn't have been too hard via Google especially given that you use your real name here, so if he didn't, he can't have looked very hard.

He didn't approach me. And, yes, I reckon he'd have found me easily enough if he were a proper newshound.

I don't particularly want to be in the spotlight myself. I've been there- and it's not a comfortable experience.

Some nice publicity there for Alice's book! I hope it gains her a few more readers.

I couldn't help chuckling at the bit about "moved from Oldham to Bolton but they still visit the borough". It makes it sound like they'd gone to the other side of the globe. :)

One of them has. He lives in Japan. His visits to the borough are infrequent. :)

This is great...and you must be very happy knowing you've been a very positive influence for your daughter.

Of course. I'm as proud as a proud thing with a prideful hat on.

I feel I should mention that the first thing that went through my mind when I read the title of this post was the father of the White Witch Jadis from the Narnia books.

O.o

Hurrah for Alice!

(I love the name Alice, as another aside. It's such a splendid name.)

Alice is my favourite literary character. I adore Lewis Carroll.

As well as being good publicity for Alice, it's a sympathetic depiction your beliefs - people are much more open-minded than they used to be.

That's true. Wicca was an outsider religion when I was initiated in the early 90s; it is now almost mainstream.

Yes. And now I'm looking forward to the official launch at the end of the month.

In all the postings by you and Alice and Ailz concerning family matters and also other relationships with friends, I can sense the amazing love you all share. What a fortunate family you are!
I'm looking forward to buying Alice's book right after the first of October - when my funds come in. I hope it's an international best seller!

We're not ideal. There's a lot that gets swept under the carpet. I tend not to write about the bad things. It's my English reserve. :)
