Birthday Party

We had a small birthday party yesterday.  I fixed cottage pie and sandwiches. Odi made noises about joining me in the kitchen (she thinks that because we're seniors and she's a junior she should be waiting on us- which is the etiquette back in Cameroon) but I chased her out.  Everybody loved the cottage pie.

Cottage pie is like shepherd's pie, only made with beef- basically mince and vegetables with a topping of mashed potato.

Okay! That's what WE call shepherd's pie over here - made with beef. I take it that the real thing is probably made with lamb or mutton? At any rate, it's a favorite with my friends and I when we dine at Kinsale Pub.

I've always used the terms interchangeably. It was Ailz who explained to me what the difference is.
