Leaflets

The European elections are almost upon us. Today's post brought a bunch of party leaflets.

Let's see.

The Green party goes with a picture of kids on a beach holding up a poster that says "Vote for Us". Do you suppose the kids volunteered or are they simply doing what daddy said? Involving kids in a political campaign is low- no matter how good the cause.

The UKIP leaflet is purple and yellow. Ouch!  And features Churchill flashing a V sign. Would Churchill- that power-hungry Machiavellian, who was half American and loved the international stage- ever have aligned himself with a Little Englander party? Of course not. And to suggest otherwise comes close to fraud.

The BNP flyer is bright yellow and looks like it fell out of The Sun. It features a Spitfire and a guy with a stethoscope round his neck who looks a bit like Dr Goebbels. Yuk!

The Labour party leaflet tells me that "it's Gordon Brown's leadership that will get us through these tough times". Oh, please!

Nothing yet from the Tories or the Lib Dems.

So far we have the UKIP and LibDem flyers. The Libdem one is an instant turnoff because it spends all of it's real estate bitching about how bad the other parties are, or why we can't trust them. I say if you have nothing decent to write about your own party then bugger off, I can make up my own mind about the others thank you :P.

That's the problem with the Lib Dems. They've always sold themselves as the alternative to the other, "nasty" parties instead of forging a strong identity for themselves.
