I was a fair-haired kid. Positively Nordic. This wasn't my car. We were at the fair- and the picture was taken by a pro. Brrm-brrm! Oddly enough- I've never learned to drive. The white thing on the seat beside me is the roof of the toy bus I was carrying round with me at the time.

Never learned to drive? I did not either until I was stuck "up in the woods" in New Hampshire and sanity was threatened by isolation. As soon as I got back to civilization I let the license lapse and have never driven since.

I envy people who live in places with decent transportation that doesn't require them to drive. Me- I've driven everything from aircraft to fuel tankers, passenger buses, and forklifts. I've driven both UK and US vehicles, too- and had a US vehicle in the UK. It wasn't difficult learning to shift left-handed. It's been years since I've been in a vehicle with a manual transmission, but I can drive them! Most Americans can't.

I'm surrounded by dedicated drivers. My mother was an army driver in WWII- and still- at 87- is happy to drive considerable distances. My dad was a bit of a boy racer- the way he'd hare round narrow country lanes was terrifying. My youngest son drove military vehicles for the British Army.
I took lessons once, but I just couldn't get the hang of it.

I have a picture of myself somewhere driving my little red fire truck. i'll have to see if I can locate that. I still have the fire truck--actually it is in the rafters in my mom's garage. someday I intend to bring it to my house. i loved my little red fire truck--especially the bell!
My poor cats frequently had (unwilling) rides around the yard in it. heh heh.
They were often dressed in doll clothes as well, poor things.

I had a red racing car. I don't know what happened to it. I suppose my parents got rid of it after I outgrew it.

Do I really still look like that?
I guess no-one really knows what they look like.
