The [livejournal.com profile] ingmar_bergman community is a deserted place. In summer the sun never sets and in winter it never rises. I go there when I want to be alone. Occasionally I meet my wife on the beach. At least I think it's my wife, but it could just be one of my inner demons. We eye one another intently and exchange disturbing remarks.

My last Bergman post was so brilliant that I posted it here as well. I'm the first person ever to understand The Passion of Anna. Hooray for me! But seeing as how I'm the only person (apart from [livejournal.com profile] craftyailz) to have seen the sodding movie I guess you guys aren't going to give me the kudos I deserve.

It's a hazard of being good at something that no one else understands, really. :)

Not having seen the film, I could offer that your analysis was quite well written and certainly seemed insightful, but obviously I couldn't honestly say that I agree with it. Nor do I honestly disagree, naturally.

But certainly kudos for exposing me to something I probably otherwise would never have known existed. :)

Have you seen Hour of the Wolf?

Yes. And less than a week ago. Von Sydow and Ullman meet Dracula. Good stuff!

Not my favourite though. I thought Bergman lost his way a bit among all that horror film imagery. But I realise that I may be missing something.
