Stuff

My in-laws are having their attic draught-proofed.  I was up there a week ago, clearing it of stuff. Since then they’ve been sorting through the stuff and dispatching much of it our way. The stuff we've prematurely inherited includes most of the presents they received at their silver wedding.
 

A silver-plated rose bowl, a portable barbecue set (almost certainly never used), an electric fan (we might just use that), lots and lots of candlesticks (I like candlesticks), a ring holder in the shape of a swan with faux-ruby eyes...

 

Ah stuff!  We all have far too much of it.  Lovely, shiny, too-good-to-throw-away, utterly gratuitous stuff!

No, we didn't find anything like that- but many of these items were still in their boxes.
