I've put on half a stone over the last year. I know why: it's because I used to walk everywhere and now I don't. I used to say I liked walking everywhere, but if that had been really true I would still be doing it, wouldn't I- car or no car?

The question is, should I fight to regain my previously trim figure or accept the plumping up as an unavoidable symptom of the ageing process?

And, no, before someone suggests it- wild horses wouldn't succeed in dragging me to the gym.

I've just lost 2 lbs of the 6 or 7 I put on over the winter. Too much sitting motionless at the computer and eating too much chocolate was my problem.

In my case I know my health starts to suffer if I go over a certain weight, so I need to get back down below it again by slightly modifying the eating and increasing the exercise.

As [livejournal.com profile] baritonejeff says, if you were previously slim, it's not the 7 lbs you've put on already, but the 7 lbs you'll put on this year and the next year and the next...

Perhaps start doing more walking again? With the current price of petrol, just think of the money you'll be saving!

I'm not going to let the weight pile on. I mean to exercise more and cut back on the cakes.

I did some bricklaying this afternoon. Go me!
