Knutsford sits on the edge of Tatton Park. A lot of TV drama has been shot in and around the 1791 mansion- including Granada's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the BBC's Casanova.

I appreciate your posts like this. They give me ideas of what to see around our beautiful country.
That water looks very frightening to me.

Thanks. There's so much that's beautiful and interesting out there.
Just for a moment- just before it started to rain- the water took on the appearance of hammered metal

Again, these are super photos. I love the look of the water! What is the name of the kind of animal in the last photo? Are those a form of deer?

Thanks.
According to the website, Tatton Park has two kinds of deer- red deer and fallow deer. I'm not certain, but I think this is a red deer hind.

Thank you! I Googled them both and I think you are right. I like the look of them. Were you that close?

The deer were very tame and allowed me to get almost within touching distance.
I'd guess there were about fifteen of them, drifting in a herd across the park.

Wonderful light in the lake pictures. Those are certainly odd looking deer (to me, anyway).

I think they're red deer. According to a website I visited they're Britain's largest land mammals.
