Have Hat, Will Travel

Apparently Around the World in 80 Days is dreadful. What a pity! I have very fond memories of the 1956 version with David Niven. I must have been 5 or 6 when I first saw it- and for months afterwards I wanted to BE David Niven and own a hot air balloon and a top hat.

Oh- and an Indian princess. Yes, even at 6 I had worked out that Indian princesses are a good idea.

It's a magical story. It almost tells itself. How could anyone fail with it?

But then again, this latest effort is a Walt Disney production....

steve coogan and jackie chan right? i`m so sick of jackie chan. he is such a pain. his movies are just formless plot built around a bunch of silly stunts. ooh! watch jackie fight with plates! ooh! watch jackie use karate with no hands! ooh! watch jackie jump through a ladder and fall over a chair gracefully and fall ona roof and use it as a weapon! ooh! watch the fantastic fake out-takes at the end of every movie (what is that, a jackie chan contract clause- there must be crappy outtakes at the end of eveyr picture?). ooh! watch him shake his hand in mock pain when it gets trapped in something!

ch-antics. that`s it. could sink even a good movie- if he ever made a good movie.

I'm just sorry that Steve Coogan's mixed up in it. Alan Partridge was near-genius and 24 Hour Party People gave him real movie-cred. And now this.
