The Color Purple

I'm reading The Color Purple. It's a crusading novel- a 20th century Uncle Tom's Cabin- and crusading novels wither very quickly. But it's readable and the characters have depth even if their primary rationale is as teaching aids.

I'm off to the dentist. Dental treatment on the National Health is one of the great, great benefits of being a free-born Brit.

Thanks. It was just a routine check-up. I've got a broken tooth (nothing major) and have to go back in August to get it fixed.

I'm tempted..., but no I won't. Any joke I can think of is too old and stereotyped. Besides, I'm jealous. Even with insurance my last crown replacement was over $200.
