And just to round things off, the view from our hotel. We were staying in Clichy, just beyond le periphe, within walking distance of the Batignolles Cemetery. I had every intention of visiting the cemetery on our final evening (and I see I could have paid my respects to Verlaine if I had) but- well- I was exhausted. 

I like the way the wall to the left is splashed with reflected light from the hotel windows.

That's a fabulous picture! And Clichy, was that not Henry Miller's turf?

It was. He wrote a thing called Quiet Days at Clihy- which I'm afraid I haven't read.
