Postscript

And just to round things off, the view from our hotel. We were staying in Clichy, just beyond le periphe, within walking distance of the Batignolles Cemetery. I had every intention of visiting the cemetery on our final evening (and I see I could have paid my respects to Verlaine if I had) but- well- I was exhausted.

I like the way the wall to the left is splashed with reflected light from the hotel windows.

Oh, that light is altogether lovely - lovely photo. I hope the hotel was as charming as the picture suggests.

It was a perfectly serviceable tourist hotel. Not particularly charming or luxurious but comfortable- and with a better restaurant than you'd find in its English equivalent.

The light's amazing. Lovely shot! It reminds me a bit of Bath, the North Parade in particular.

I've been trolling your galleries (ignorant me, I had no idea LJ had galleries) and I really like your photos. You have a marvelous eye, especially for color, light, and composition. I spent almost 9 years working for a professional photographic shop and your stuff compares favorably to what the customers there were shooting for a living. Thank you for making it available for us to see!

Thanks.

LJ is a great showcase for an amateur.

That's a fabulous picture! And Clichy, was that not Henry Miller's turf?

It was. He wrote a thing called Quiet Days at Clihy- which I'm afraid I haven't read.

I have not either. Let's! ;)

I certainly feel motivated.
