I nearly used the phrase "long winter days". Technically wrong, emotionally right. The greyness and the wetness just go on and on and on- and  there aren't any Christmas baubles hanging around  to make up for the lack of colour.

February is sacred to Juno Februa- Goddess of fevers and sexual desire. I find this a cheering thought.

Ailz went for a fasting blood test this morning. And- it being in the air- she got talking to the nurse about Harry Potter. The nurse said she and her kids can't be doing with Rowling. They find her "too fanciful".  Erm, right....

Nowhere did it say in any of the literature we read when we got them that what rabbits really like to eat is telephone directories.

Oooooh, Valentine's Day is coming up! Any excuse to be effusively romantic and gushy and sexy is really nice, after such a drab winter. (I doubt you'll ever come here, but just so you know, Humboldt County has two seasons: foggy/raining, and summer. Winter takes a long time to go away!) Hey, that reminds me - the Kabbalah says that what one is supposed to do on a rainy day is stay indoors and have sex all day long. If only that were feasible!

Also, you forgot to mention that rabbits especially like to eat important papers. Money, phone bills and to-do lists just taste better than rubbish, you know. My ex-roommate had a rabbit and it had a knack for finding the most crucial papers and turning them into rabbit pellets. Curse him.

Um, fantasy is too fanciful?

Rabbits are also partial to electrical cords. My late rabbit, Harvey, destroyed many cords in his day.

February here in southern Spain is the month of growth and promise. I think it must be somewhat similar in England. We always take a quick trip to London in February and the daffodils are almost always in bloom in the parks and Kew is just beginning to wake up with the crocus carpets. You´re further north but February is always transition month in my mind.

Your bunnies eat phone directories?

Bah! What are kids coming to if they don't like fanciful things!

February I can live with. the days are drawing out and the spring flowers start to come out. And it's not January which for me is the pits.

Oh, tsh. And even if it is all fancy, what's wrong with that?
