Suckered

I got suckered into watching Big Brother (UK version) last night. They told me they were putting out an extended edition because something momentous had happened. Well, nothing momentous happened. I think what they were referring to was an incident where the stroppy lesbian girl wrote something on a mirror in defiance of the rules. Big Brother (who has a very young voice) intervened and said he was going to evict a housemate as punishment (only he didn't.)

When he finally gets round to it, I can't see it being the stroppy lesbian who goes; she's too interesting and instructive. She was defending her transgressive attitude by saying she has her "own agenda"- and though she didn't explain further, it's clear she intends to bring about the dictatorship of the proletariat by picking fights with her housemates and writing "fuck" and "piss" and "equality" on the walls (and mirrors.)

Oh, the plangency, oh the sorrowfulness! Are we human beings really such silly, snippy, bickering, self-deluded creatures?

Answer: yes.

Would that be "dubitas omnis" or "dubita omnia"? We must question [livejournal.com profile] burkean to make certain. This way we can be cryptic and start the hype with The Message. Hype is everything says the inner journalist. It makes things more meemorable.

We want the world to be talking about this. And then people on the show can sit and philosophize and have their drama, etc. That is, after all, what the Real World is about. Seven strangers forced to live under the same roof. That's the premise. They pick people who will most likely have conflicts.

It's not really fun to watch, but it seems it would be fun to be a part of it and scribble "question everything" in all available languages all over the walls with toothpaste.

"That is soooo deep, dude."
"Like, totally."

The LJ universe is full of classicists- but I'm not one of them. I did Latin as a small boy and Greek as a young man, but have since forgotten almost everything.

I'd like to know the correct form of the motto, then I can paste it all over my Journal.

Real World sounds just like Big Brother. By the way they lost their bottle and evicted the lesbian. Kitten her name was.

Oh, yes, I have heard of Big Brother. They lost a lesbian in a bottle? That's a shame! It would be something I would want to watch.

The elitist in me scorns these "Reality" shows, but they don't half tell you a lot about human nature.

And mainly it ain't pretty.

Poor little lesbian. She was the only one to kick against the pricks (pun halfway intended) and they squashed her like a bug.

For shame! Why did they throw her out? Can they throw people out? They don't in The Real World. I don't think. I must ask my sister. She is all top on pop culture.

How could she not be, little valedictorian that she is. TV is all important when it comes to collegial procrastination.

They threw her out for repeatedly breaking the rules. The writing on the mirror incident was only the final infringement of many.

This had apparently never happened before. In three previous series the petty rules had always been observed.

What sheep we are!

I watch far too much TV. My excuse is that I am in my dotage

The rules are made to be broken. Though, I suppose when you have a message, you should ensure you stay in the show to spread it. I would have put it on the mirror with post-its.
