 I've never been a smoker. On the one or two occasions when- as a kid- I took a drag I thought, "But this is disgusting".....

I've tried weed. It makes me cough.

But last night I dreamed I had bought myself a pipe and was smoking something mellow and fruity. It was an expensive hobby but what the hell! I can't think where that came from- unless it's just that I've seen one portrait too many of J.R.R. Tolkien......

there's a ritual that goes with smoking

in the cat who books by lillian jackson braun
the main character qwill is a news writer.
over time in the books,
he goes from a cigar smoker to nonsmoker
and it walks how he'd used the smoking as a tool
to fill time as he's waiting for people to come
up with answers. he's quits then does the
remembering thing in later stories.

we used to smoke weed with friends
it was also a bit of a ritual.
some times it would be after a shared meal.

one person would clean out the weed,
another would clean the pipe.
but other times it would be a mixture of herbs
like the amerindians would put together.
then we'd gather and share with the passing
of the pipe, after wards there would be a time of
sharing and then music where the guitars
would come out and play and we sing.

we didn't consider cost as it was shared.

I've heard it said that it gives you something to do with your hands.

This s particularly true if you'e smoking a pipe.

but i've seen some rings
that might fit the bill
with out the added bonus of tobacco or kniknic

they have spinners you can fidget with

if you really want to be smoking
look for organic tobbacco that is cured with out sugar
with out any additives like nocotine

the version we found was braided
mike found it sent him on a trip

a water pipe is the best for smoking with out choking

but seriously don't start smoking
it not great no matter how literature makes is seem romantic

vaping does serious damage to lungs
it never should have been let loose

No. I'm not tempted - and never have been- which is what makes the dream so odd.
