It was so hot yesterday that the gloss paint went all runny and Karl and Eddie couldn't paint the coving because of the way it was dripping down the wall.

Over at Stalybridge- in the valley across the hill  where Eddie lives- the moors are on fire.  He says the town was full of smog last night.

According to the TV News, yesterday was Britain's hottest July day for a century.

Here, asphalt is melting on the highways, causing cars to suddenly veer off or thump where the pavement is buckled.

If you say the temperature is in the 30s, can you translate for me? I have forgotten my conversions!

I am guessing 90s in F?

That's right. Mid to high 90s. I still think in Farenheit too
