Every other month (the idea is) the Eastbourne Quakers have a "Meeting for Learning". I'm in charge of making the arrangements- or at least rubber-stamping them- and wish I wasn't. The last talk I delivered myself. It was on "Simplicity" . Today we have one scheduled on "Esperanto". There is a married couple in Hastings who have an enthusiasm for the subject- and enthusiasm is attractive- and somehow thay got fitted into a vacant slot. We have a member who has equally strong feelings on the subject- a linguist who thinks we should be learning real historic languages not silly made-up ones- and while I don't feel as strongly as she does I'm rather in agreement. She promises to be at the Meeting and I'm hoping she'll spice things up..

I tend to agree wth learning real, old languages but then I can do Old and Middle English, Old Norse, Middle Scots and Middle French.

Esperanto is still a gendered laguage which doesn't really show much thought to real progress.
