poliphilo We were talking about the Windsors. For me it was playing catch-up because I've not been paying them much mind.
"Courtiers," said Ailz, "Have been coming out and saying what a foul temper William has."
"And what's the politics of that," I asked, "Why are his professional supporters talking down the future king?"
"Perhaps so we don't get our hopes too high..." she said...
And why would they want to dampen our expectations? Is his succession imminent? Is Charles sicker than the media let on?
Last night I dreamed I was on a train- in a crowded carriage with standing room only- and William and his entourage were right next to us, behind an elbow-high railing. Our friend, an American woman, approached him brightly and said something friendly and William grabbed her and shoved her away. "Why would a royal behave like that? asked another friend. And I answered, loud enough for William to hear, "Because they're all SHITS"
And as I said it I had this feeling that William and his gang were all oddly insubstantial- papery, unreal - like pictures cut from some gossip magazine- or, as Alice put it, "Nothing but a pack of cards."
