Getting An Eye Test
Jul. 9th, 2023 09:00 am I hadn't been for an eye test since before Covid. Mainly because I was doing my best to avoid all situations that would require me to wear one of those stifling masks for more than a minute or two. The opticians I'd used before kept sending me reminders and I kept deleting them.
Ailz made the appointment for me. Left to my own devices I'd have carried on deleting.
My eyes are fine, by the way. There's been a slight shift. I'm getting "office lenses" which should serve both for long distance and close at hand. No further need for a separate pair of "reading glasses"- or so they say.
The optometricist was Canadian. He's working over here because Canada wouldn't let him practice unless he did another three years study and acquired a doctorate. The UK has lower standards/is less pernickety.
The optician's assistant hoped it wasn't going to rain because she had football practice scheduled for that evening. She was using a clever new machine that sussed out my old prescription by simply looking at the lenses.
My old glasses were red, my new ones will be blue- a vivid, electric kingfisher blue.
