poliphilo Today's Local Council Elections are the first at which voters will be required to show up with photographic ID. Governments are always looking for ways to game the system and this requirement (I take it) is designed to disenfranchise people who don't have driving licences or passports- which is to say poorer people who are less likely to vote Conservative. Eastbourne is currently run by the Lib Dems, with the Conservatives in contention and Labour nowhere. I intend to vote Green.
