The Lawn Is Shrinking

poliphilo I keep the lawn mowed- to show a certain willing conformity to suburban values- but I'm leaving areas round the edge where wild flowers can flourish. In one such patch there's a clump of primroses. Otherwise we have daisies and dandelions. We will be picking the dandelions to give to Wendy so she can make her highly effective salve.
As we develop the garden so the lawn will shrink. Ailz wants a vegetable patch- and that will take a chunk out of it. Lawns are nice enough but they don't do anything for biodiversity. They began as a fad of the wealthy in the early modern era. "Look at me," the lawn owner was saying, "I'm so rich I can afford to take all this acreage out of production and have nothing growing on it but grass..."
