Mastering The Body
Apr. 14th, 2023 08:50 am Ailz tells me that an effective way of resisting dementia is to start performing routine tasks with one's non-dominant hand. This compels the brain to think about what it's doing. I had a go at brushing my teeth with my left hand last night. It was difficult, but I shall continue working at this new skill until I've mastered it.
My son posted a video of our grandson "chattering". It's in close-up- and you can see the effort he's putting into making the sounds, trying new things with his tongue and his throat muscles. Very soon he'll be forming words. I don't suppose we ever work harder- or with greater urgency- than we do as babies, bringing our lumpish bodies under conscious control.
