 Our garage is empty. We considered turning it into a living room/bedroom- with the entrance bricked up and a door and window inserted- but that would devalue the property- besides costing us a lot of money- so we're looking at a compromise solution- which would involve turning it into the sort of space that visiting kids could hang out in and sleep in- and think they were having an adventure- but without doing anything structural.

The first thing is to clear out all the junk, the second is to clean it, the third is to paint it...

I don't know why garages still add so much value as people never seem to park cars in them and simply fill them full of junk.

If ours was connected (it's separate down at the back of the garden) we'd convert it and have done. I'd say an extra room gave more value added.

So many British garages are almost uselessly small for cars, it's strange. Best case seems to be that it's a small enough car that the driver can (un)load passengers outside it then park close to one side, my mother could manage that with her little Peugeot 107. Good luck with easily turning it into a more useful space.
