Election Day

I was brought up to believe that voting was a privilege and a duty- and ancestral ghosts nag at me if I allow myself to get too cynical about the process.

"So do you want to go and vote this morning?" Ailz asks.

I hestitate because I'd really rather not.

But then the ancestors start up.

"It gets us out of the house," I say.

I'm sympathetic to the argument that voting for the bastards only encourages them, but in the end I can't help myself.
