The Final Yard Of The Final Mile

Joe got a call this morning from a woman who said (in so many words) "Come over to Catterick, sign a piece of paper, trouser your last pay check and you'll no longer be in the army."

At last.

So he's going to do those things tomorrow.

How about going back to school? Is that an option? Would he like to do that?

He's been through so much. I wish him good fortune and a job he will enjoy.

He wants to get married- and for that he's going to have to work.

But he's not really the academic type. He went to agricultural college on leaving school and dropped out after a year.

I'm very happy for him, that this long nightmare is ending at last.

And that he's in love and is young.

Is there a career he's interested in that offers on-the-job training?

He wants to be a fitness instructor- and is doing a course that will give him the requisite qualification.

In the mean time he's sending out applications hither and yon for all sorts of different jobs.
