Two For Joy

Our friend Bean (real name Benjamin Lam) is a smith- and we asked him to make something for the garden.

He sketched out a number of designs and we chose the bird because we love birds.





They aren't really any particular kind of bird but we agreed on a colouring that suggests the magpie.

And having made that choice we had to have the two of them because,

One for sorrow,
Two for joy.....

He is a handsome lad. He reminds me a bit of my nephew Erik who is not a smith but is a very smart and talented writer. His greatest dream is to work for National Public Radio as a broadcaster. I would love to see that happen.

They are terrific. I would love something like that in my yard. Birds are a great choice for ironwork.

He gave us several choices- a human figure, a tree, flowers- but we didn't have to spend much time scratching our heads before opting for the birds.
