Shadows Of The Past

 We started attending the Quaker meeting shortly after the couple who ran it resigned and not only resigned but dropped out and cut all ties. He had been Clerk and she had been Treasurer. I don't know what happened. Did someone say something that upset them? Rumour and guesswork suggest that this was it. They'd been in charge through the covid era- and worked hard by all accounts.  They were a good age and had health issues. It's not perhaps surprising that their tolerance had worn thin.

For a year or two it seemed like the Meeting might close, but offices have been filled and numbers have grown and it looks like it'll carry on for a few years yet....

Ailz and I now do the jobs that other couple did- and we too are old and have health issues.  Our friend Mags watches us carefully, and was asking Ailz yesterday if we might break in the same way. I don't think we will but the possibility has crossed our minds.....

"No, no, no," I tell myself on a regular basis, "We are not the Johnsons*".

This may be the last of these picture diaries. I've been going through the archives and selecting pictures I still like and hadn't posted earlier. One or two of them I've edited a bit. The only one that's entirely new is the last one. The Sun is rising seemed like a good note on which to finish.
