Unlikely

 There's a scene in the second of the Thursday Murder Club mysteries where two old ladies fling themselves to the floor of the lift so that as the doors open a confederate standing outside can shoot over their heads at the person who is holding them at gunpoint. 

Now really, how many ladies in their seventies do you know who could pull that off?

As a gentleman in his seventies I find it a little far-fetched.
