The phone came up with a message that gave me something to think about just as I was leaving the house and as a result I walked down to the bus stop, waited for the bus, rode the bus all the way into town and only then realised I hadn't picked up the Meeting House keys on my way out.
I crossed the road, ran for a bus, just caught it, got home, picked up the keys and calculated it would be quicker if I did the second journey into town on my non-motorised scooter. I was right. The walk, the wait, the bus ride would have taken anyhing from a quarter to half an hour whereas on the scooter- going as fast as the state of the pavements would allow- it only took me ten minutes; and I reached the Meeting House with a quarter of an hour to spare before the Meeting for worship was due to begin.
Not bad for an old'un...
