Family Heirloom

 I don't know quite how it happened but I suppose by inheritance I somehow come to have in my possession a Third Edition (1765) of The Journal of George Fox- founder of The Society of Friends. I was thinking I might smuggle it into the library of the Eastbourne Meeting House and leave it there because, I told myself, "I'll never read it."

And myself said, " Hang on a minute. Why do you think that?"

"O, come on," I said, "It's the size of one of those old-style family Bibles. I'd need to lectern to support it. Also the end boards have come away from the spine. It's a curio...nothing more..."

"Tut-tut," said Myself, "And you fancy yourself an antiquarian." 

"Yes, but..."

"And you want to be a Quaker..."

"Yes..."

"So do you really think it came into your hands by accident?"
