Julia is here with a leaf blower, making the paths look neat and pretty for the estate agent's photographer. The stink of petrol makes me sneeze.

Ailz and I discuss last minute adjustments to the look of the place. Should we move the cat's dishes out of sight? Yes indeed!

My mother could be a problem. Will she still be in bed when the photographer arrives? Will she be occupying the upstairs bathroom? But there's no point in worrying about it in advance. We'll work round her.

The photographer came and and took photographs. I followed her around and moved furniture at her behest. We (more precisely my sister) has engaged a solicitor. A contract with the estate agent has been signed and delivered to his office...

And there's not much more we can do- except look at pictures of houses and dream. I found a two bedroom apartment situated on the ground floor of a Victorian mansion in Lewes. It's affordable. And it has views out over the Downs. If we took it we'd have to lose almost all our furniture- but why not?

I can feel Christmas closing in- and all I want to do is sleep, eat mince pies and drink egg nog (not that I have any egg nog). If I feel a little less lethargic tomorrow morning I shall put up the Christmas tree.

We're in the space between two storms. Arwen has gone and Barra is on it's way. They say Barra is going to be a right little terror.
