I Timothy, 6:7
Dec. 4th, 2021 03:33 pmI walk out into the field and think, "Very soon this will no longer be my responsibility- no more reinforcing of fences or picking up of sticks or fretting about ragwort or chopping back of brambles. It was fun while it lasted but I don't think I'll miss it.."
Or will I?
I've been saying I'd like to have a very small garden so I can continue to potter in a very small way, but is that really true? So long as I can walk on grass and loiter under trees I don't actually think I need to believe I own them. And after all it's a fiction that anyone can own land. (Or anything else for that matter.)
"For we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out."
And if I don't need a garden we could be looking at apartments as well as houses. In fact I'm starting to do just that. And I've found a very nice ground floor apartment in Rochester town centre which even has a strip of green stuff attached. Like the house I've taken a shine to it's been carved out of a former industrial premises- so it also has age and character...
