From The Horse's Mouth
May. 27th, 2021 10:07 am“I’m not smart, I’ve not built great things in the world. It’s completely crackers that someone like me should have been in there, just the same as it’s crackers that Boris Johnson was in there.”
Dominic Cummings.
But we have a system that makes it all but inevitable that people like Cummings and Johnson- and May and Cameron and Brown and Blair- are the ones who end up being "in there".
So long as we do politics the way we're doing them now the same kinds of utterly unsuitable people will continue to rise to the top.
Meanwhile, it's highly unlikely that much damage will have been done to a Prime Minister who got himself elected in spite of/because of being completely shambolic. And if he did have to go there'd be another utterly unsuitable person (we all know who the likely successors are) ready to be slotted into place.
All the same, thanks to Cummings, I'm never going to be able think of Johnson now without the image of an out-of-control shopping trolley coming to mind.
