It All Comes Back To One Thing

I trawl the media for news stories that aren't to do with CV19. They're hard to find. Almost everything relates to it one way or another...

The Chinese authorities have been arresting Hong Kong dissidents because CV19 gives them cover.

The price of oil has collapsed- because CV19 means no-one is using the stuff. At one point the price of a barrel dropped below zero. Does this mean suppliers are having to pay people to take it off their hands?

There's a whisper that Disney is in trouble. CV19 has closed their parks and kept their movies from being shown.

Kim Jong-un has had heart surgery- or so they say. Could this also be a CV19 story? I wouldn't bet against it.

Wildlife

The first time I stepped out this morning I saw a heron fly over. Herons in flight have a boxy look- like one of those square-nosed early aeroplanes.

The second time I stepped out I saw a baby rabbit on the lawn. Rabbits have been digging in the flowerbeds and eating the sunflower seedlings.

Almost every time I look out the window I see pheasants. There are four of them now: an adult male, a young male- who is only just beginning to acquire his finery- and two hens.

So Green

We took our weekly trip down to the farm shop.

The world is at its greenest.

Should we press on and take a look at the Downs and the sea? I don't think it would do any harm but- no- it wouldn't be playing the game- and I'm no longer into rebellion for the sake of it.

Drama, who needs drama?

Ailz's godmother died. She was 92. And a good person. There's a sense in which we're all good- but with most of us it's not the adjective that springs first to mind; with Pat it is. I'm sure she was more complicated than anyone knew- because everyone is complicated- but the goodness shone.

Now that Pat has moved on the only person we know belonging to the pre-war generation is my mother.
