Frost

Baw and Sit (I've been spelling it Bo but Baw is correct) are up a scaffolding tower fixing tiles to the wall of the house. These are "L" shaped tiles for going round corners. The upper storey of the house is clad in tiles but whoever did the job last time round cut costs by finishing off the corners with wood- which has rotted. We're now doing things properly.

"I wouldn't want to be doing that job in this weather," I say. "That's why we're employing Baw and Sit," says Ailz.

It's very cold. There was a frost overnight. Bird baths and horse water butts are frozen. A fox trotted across the lawn at breakfast time. They don't come right up to the house except when it's cold. Villon noticed the same thing to be true of wolves.
