Not So Random Words Of Wisdom
Oct. 28th, 2018 12:35 pmPain is unavoidable but suffering is optional.
First time I read this it was attributed to a Buddhist holy man; second time it was presented as something a Judaeo-Christian angel said in a vision to a guy who happened to be a Hindu- so it transcends cultures.
When something like this transcends cultures I think it's likely to be true.
I forget when or where I read it first but it was recently. And it made an impression. Second time was this morning and I thought, "I'm clearly meant to take notice of this- so I'll write it down."

Foreshadowing
Oct. 28th, 2018 02:52 pm I jotted down that dream about the grandkids digging up the patio and burying kitchenware because it was vivid- and seemed like it might mean something.
Weeeeelll…
I was talking to my daughter this afternoon and while we were on the phone Ivy and Clover were out in the garden making mud pies- and then Clover- to her mother's alarm- started running around with a kitchen knife.
Was the dream a sort of cockamamie foreshadowing of things that hadn't happened yet- of the kind J.H. Dunne writes about in An Experiment with Time? Most of Dunne's instances were equally inconsequential.
I rather think so. And to make the whole thing all the more timey-wimey it so happens the conversation my daughter and I were having was all to do with prediction and prophecy.
