Time Like An Ever Rolling Stream
Jan. 14th, 2016 10:14 am"Who was the British monarch 100 years ago?" asked the TV quiz-master. And the contestant said, "Queen Victoria."
Well, yes, I might have said that myself if pushed for time- because for the first 50 years of my life it would have been the right answer.
As it was, I reached for my mental abacus and moved the beads around a bit. A hundred years ago was 1916- slap bang in the middle of the Great War- and so the king was-
George V.
But George V was king when my parents were born.
Yes. Exactly.
How time flies.
