Top Predator

Something moving on the lawn. That's a bit big for a rabbit, I think.  Look again. It's a vixen. Enormous beast. Swollen dugs. Trot-trot-trotting along. I'm glad the cat is inside. She could have done him serious harm.

My Mother's TV Viewing

I make the choices for her now. I ask myself what she'd like to watch and for her afternoon viewing usually settle for one of the racing channels. Yesterday I was stumped- and chose the latest movie version of Pride and Prejudice. She watched it all the way through but was never quite comfortable with it. I'd go in and she'd say, "I don't know what this is." And I'd say, "Pride and Prejudice." And she'd make noises to suggest she wasn't convinced...
