My mother pauses in the hall and goes, "Oh!", the way she does when something has displeased her. I gather myself together and prepare for the worst. I find her gazing at the fruit bowl. "What enormous bananas," she says.

Look- there's a rabbit bouncing across the lawn with its mouth full of bedding material.
