After The Storm

Last time we had a storm like that there were leaves on the trees and the wind made a rushing noise- like water. This time the boughs were bare and the sound was deeper, woodier, more hollow. It was like a train going past- without it ever getting past- if you see what I mean. A very long train.

After Effects

Driving into Paddock Wood this morning we had to skirt (a) a flood/very large puddle and (b) a fallen tree- both of which were almost but not quite blocking the road. We noticed that the village pond in Matfield had spread.

Back here at the farm the weather vane has blown sideways and the greenhouse has lost a quarter of its roof. Someone handier than I am will be able to re-erect the vane but the greenhouse- the frame of which is largely rotten- has gone beyond the stage of make do and mend.
